Cans for Rotary Projects
Rockwell City community members don't bother with returning their pop/beer cans and bottles to redemption centers, they donate the items to the Rockwell City Rotary Club to support the many community projects the club sponsors. Members of the Club show up when the can recepticle is "full" to sort the cans and bottles. Proceeds from the bags and boxes of used items is used to support Club projects year round.

RC Rotary members donate $1000 to the purchase of a ShelterBox for relief efforts in Haiti.

It's all about the box: At the heart of every ShelterBox is a 10-person tent. Every box contains a children's pack containing drawing books, crayons and pens.
In addition to the tent and children's pack the boxes contain a range of other survival equipment including thermal blankets and insulated ground sheets. Mosquito nets are supplied, as well as a life saving means of water purification. A basic tool kit is also included.
A key piece in the box is either a wood burning or multi-fuel stove - that can burn anything from diesel to old paint. Pans, utensils, bowls, mugs and water storage containers complete the box items.

Rotary Donates Dictionaries to Third Grade Students
Rockwell City Rotarians enjoyed delivering new dictionaries to the third grade students at Rockwell City-Lytton Elementary and Southern Cal Elementary at the beginning of the 2009-2010 School Year.
Thank you notes from each class expressed appreciation and shared their experiences using the dictionaries for the first time.
Students have used their new dictionaries to look up the longest word, information on everything from presidents to planets, and to enhance their daily learning.
